    Rule Help

A few of the players have been asking about this rule and no one seems to be able to see eye-to-eye.

Does anyone know where the fine line is drawn in scenarios when:

A ball is shot from one team, blocked off the table by the opposing team and an argument ensues regarding whether or not the defending team actually had possession prior to it being blocked off the table.

I have only really seen a block off the table go to the defending team, even if it bounces around very briefly and in an uncontrolled manner in their defensive zone.

However, the rule that we found regarding this situation states not that possession is the issue, but instead if the "force/power" of the shot itself was the cause of the ball leaving the table or if its was not the cause.

I have always heard people claim that the change of possession is the important issue, but the only rule that we could find made it seem like the power of the shot was the important issue.

If there is another post somewhere that explains this or if someone knows how to make these kinds of calls, please let me know because it has recently caused some small conflicts during a few of the DYP games.

    Thanks guys, and hopefully referees.

    Re: Rule Help

This old new rule has done nothing but confuse people.  Ie.  Yellow goalie shots ball and the ball goes around the world and then black forward swats at ball and goes off table= black goalies ball..  This is because the last person whom had control of the ball was yellow goalie...  It is a contol thing..
